Improvers' crochet class
An opportunity to re-charge your crochet skills and add some new ones.
12th & 19th November 2011
Saturday 2-5pm
A one day workshop (£60*) / 2 classes of 3 hours each (£75*)
The Improvers' crochet class will include 4 projects covering four main subjects - chevrons, circles, cable stitches and embellishments. Each skill will be presented as a pattern project; a funky doily, purse, drawstring bag and corsages. Over the 5 hours you can learn the skill and make something to take home and cherish!
Each project will be fairly small (except for the bag) and should take about 1 hour to make. You can work at your own pace and learn all of the techniques without actually making the item if you wish.
Yarn will be supplied for learning the techniques but will need to be either purchased or brought along on the day to make the projects. Yarn requirements for projects: One 50g ball of any DK or 4-ply yarn for each project with either 3.5mm or 4mm hook. Please bring a selection of hooks.
Taught by Bee Clinch.
Bee Clinch looked upon her teenage years as a missed opportunity for buying clothes and dressing-up. Despite being so shallow she spent her time wisely and made the clothes instead. In order to do this she spent many hours sewing and learning to knit and crochet. The surprising thing was that
she became absolutely passionate about both skills and when her kids grew up she used her talents to start her own interior accessories business. Bee has taught in many situations from primary school children to overseas adults so she welcomes the chance to spread her crochet obsession.
Crochet is increasingly appearing on the cat-walks and this season in particular has seen a riot of crochet decoration with beautiful tops from Temperley to divine shoes from Marc Jacobs. It is such an easy way to create so much more than just 'granny squares'. Working from only one loop of yarn there are endless possiblities to what you can make and what stitches you can to use. No dropped stitches, no tricky needles and the satisfying chance to see the work grow quickly.
*Materials supplied but please bring a selection of your crochet hooks to use if you
can. Classes are held in the shop. Maximum of 7 students per class. 100% deposit is required at registration.
