future dates tbc

1 day workshop (£70*)

Learn first hand how to make her destinctive shawls, get insights into her unique design methods and be inspired to create light and airy lace from delecate fibres like silk, cashmere and merino.

The class will cover all the basic techniques that Aoibhe uses (including chart reading) with her design, 'Pax' as a basis. You will then learn more advanced techniques like the nupps in her 'Argo' pattern and the fans used in 'Venus'. Taught by Aoibhe Ni.

Irish designer, Aoibhe Ni was taught to crochet by her Mam at around the age of 12 or 13. Coming from quiet farming land between two small towns in Co. Meath, she would often in the following years dip back into crochet to relieve rainy-day boredom and before long, was rarely to be seen without a hook behind her ear.

After art college and several successful years as a graphic designer, the recession required a sudden change of direction, and she began selling patterns online. She hasn't looked back since.

Aoibhe has been published many times in magazines, teaches very regularly in local yarn shops in Dublin, and is currently writing her second ebook of tunisian-lace shawl patterns, entitled Legendary Shawls *Please note price includes materials. Please bring a notebook. Classes are held in the shop. Maximum of 7 students per class. 100% deposit is required at registration.
